Notifiable Matters Statement
As part of assessing applications for credit and the management of credit facilities we provide, we disclose some of the personal information we collect about borrowers, and their credit facilities, to credit reporting bodies. This statement provides the name and contact details of the credit reporting bodies to whom we may disclose your personal information as well as information about certain rights you have.
If you fail to meet your payment obligations in relation to consumer credit, we may be entitled to disclose this to the credit reporting bodies we deal with.
You may request access to the credit eligibility information we hold about you, seek that your credit information or credit eligibility information be corrected, or make a complaint to us about a breach of credit reporting laws by us.
What is credit information
Credit information includes identification information; the type and amount of credit sought by an individual when applying for credit; consumer credit liabilities; repayment history and information relating to payments, defaults; new arrangements, court proceedings, insolvency or publicly available information, which relates an individual’s activities and credit worthiness.
Credit checks and your credit score
If you apply to us for a new credit account or to increase the limit on an existing credit account, we can do a credit check without asking for your consent. A credit check is when we ask a credit reporting body for information about the loans you’ve applied for and taken out in the past, and how you’ve managed those loans.
The credit reporting body will record the fact that we have done a credit check. This will show on your credit report as a ‘credit enquiry’, and it may be disclosed to other credit providers or used in the calculation of your credit score by the credit reporting body. When a credit enquiry is recorded on your credit report, it can affect your credit score in different ways. It might go up, down, or stay the same. This depends on factors like the type of credit you're applying for, how many other credit checks you've had recently, and other details in your report. An enquiry is more likely to lower your credit score if you make a lot of credit applications in a short time.
In addition, if you fail to meet your payment obligations in relation to consumer credit, we may be entitled to disclose this to the credit reporting body we deal with. This will also affect your credit score.
